The winter transfer deals closing to the deadline day in Italian Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 might not have famous names in it but some signings did turn a few heads.
The winter transfer window in Italian Serie A was dominated by loan transfer, as usual. Apart from Juventus’s move on signing the current leading top scorer Dusan Vlahovic and Gladbach’s Denis Zakaria, most clubs barely snatched important figures to bolster the squad. The only notable transfers done by La Vecchia Signora’s contenders was probably the late decision of Atalanta man Robin Gosens to switch side to Inter on loan move. Despite being injured at the moment , the reigning champions saw this as crucial one for their following season since the German international fits the role for the left wing back position. Currently, Inter counts on the 33-year old Ivan Perisic who originally played as winger. So, Gosens’ arrival this month is a good plan. Moreover, they also signed the veteran forward Felipe Caicedo from Genoa. His proximity with Simone Inzaghi in Lazio is one of the main decisive factors in this scheme. Among all teams in Serie A, Genoa is the busiest in this window, their new boss Alexander Blessin seemed to revamp the squad by removing the old wood in the squad. In Bundesliga and French Ligue 1, the transfer deals in January were generally quieter. Nevertheless, some signings did include well-known names. In Germany, Bayer Leverkusen finally secured the signature of the underrated talented frontmen who has been tipped as the ‘new Zlatan’ just for € 4 million. He is the Iranian international Sardar Azmoun who was the key man in Zenit St Petersburg previously. In France, apart from the return of Tanguy Ndombele to Lyon, the arrival of Sead Kolasinac from Arsenal to Marseille was the only deal which captured the public’s attention. The Bosnian wing back is the second notable addition to Jorge Sampaoli’s squad after signing the former Villareal forward, Cedric Bakambu earlier.
