Two German managers, Domenico Tedesco and Daniel Farke, return in the dugout before the new year of 2022. The former left the post last May while the latter was just relieved from his post in Norwich last month.

The former Schalke boss, Domenico Tedesco was not exactly the favorite to take charge of RB Leipzig after the club sacked Jesse March two weeks ago. Borussia Dortmund Technical Director, Edin Terzic was the main candidate, while RB New York boss Gerhard Struber and RB Salzburg manager Mathias Jaissle were also shortlisted. However, Tedesco had one advantage compared to their contenders. He was the only unattached figure as he decided not to extend his contract with Spartak Moscow. Although Terzic might have been more ideal due to his impressive brief spell last season with a DFB Pokal title in hand, he has just been promoted by Die Borussen this season.

Domenico Tedesco was eventually appointed by Leipzig and signed the contract till 2023. The 36-year old manager had his stellar first season in Schalke when he guided The Royal Blues to finish as runners-up in 2017/18 season. Unfortunately, his stunning debut in Bundesliga did not continue in the following season. He was dismissed after suffering a heavy loss 7-0 against Manchester City in the round of 16 of UCL 2019. He then took up managerial role in Sparta Moscow in October 2019 and once again led his team only to finish second in Russian Premier League 2021.

Tedesco is considered well-suited to improve RB Leipzig's campaign this season as they are stuck in the mid table. He was known for being in favour of 3-4-2-1 or 3-1-4-2 formations while he was in Gelsenkirchen and was experienced in dealing with senior figures and young players in the squad. He managed to lead and combine the likes of Guido Burgstaller, Naldo and Daniel Caligiuri whose age were not so much different from him with the young talents such as Leon Goretzka and Weston McKennie in Schalke at that time. Apparently, he did start off well after bringing his new team back on the track as they smashed Gladbach 4-1 last night.

Meanwhile, Daniel Farke probably will not have to wait for too long to return to the touchline. The former Norwich City manager is reportedly set to be named as the new Besiktas boss soon. Farke was the U-21 coach in Dortmund before taking charge of Norwich City. He brought the Canaries to the Premier League twice after excellent results in the Championship but always did not end well in the top flight. He was eventually released from his post in early November despite helping Temmu Pukki and Co clinch their first win this season.

In Istanbul, Farke will be tasked to lift up Besiktas from their disappointing form this season. Cyle Larin and Co are currently still sitting on the tenth in the standings and have been eliminated from Champions League. It is a horrible start after winning double last season under Sergen Yalcin.
