The UEFA Champions League round of 16 has just began. Unfortunately, the results were not in favour of the favourite teams. Apart from Barcelona, the remaining three underdogs managed to clinch a win here. The most surprising one was FC Porto’s triumphant victory over Juventus. Their 2-1 win against Cristiano Ronaldo and Co might not be enough yet for advancing to next round but it certainly gave them the necessary confidence for the second leg. Sergio Conceicao’s men’s winning goals were scored at the early first and second half through Mehdi Terami on the 1st minute and Moussa Marega doubled their lead on the first minute of the second half. Federico Chiesa only bagged a lifeline on 81st minute but could be vital as the away goals later. Meanwhile, Lionel Messi’s side was no different from Cristiano Ronaldo’s side at this stage. Barcelona was even hammered 1-4 at home. Messi’s opener through his penalty was none but a consolation since they conceded afterwards by Kylian Mbappe’s hattrick and Moise Kean. It was notably the second time Mbappe humiliated Messi after their nations squared off in World Cup 2018.

In the meantime, Liverpool which has been in their poor form in the past few weeks surprisingly managed to snatch a 2-0 win against the more convincing side from Bundesliga, RB Leipzig. Their two winning goals were led by Julian Nagelsmann’s side’s defensive mistake. Mo Salah and Sadio Mane tucked away the ball for the important away goals. Another supposedly underdog, Borussia Dortmund, was able to thump Sevilla 3-2 on the road. The Spanish’s side took the lead by Suso on 7th minute but then they conceded three times consecutively by Mahmoud Dahoud and Erling Haaland’s brace before the half time. Edin Terzic’s men could hold the line and clinch their win despite Luuk de Jong’s goal on 84th minute.
