The winter transfer deals closing to the deadline day in Premier League and La Liga involved big names and surprising moves, either going in or going out.

Premier League is still the busy one as always with Everton, Newcastle United and Aston Villa recorded as the most active ones towards the end. The first two are in need of bolstering the squad in the upcoming relegation battles while Steven Gerrard’s side is looking for new recruits to improve their domestic campaign. The Toffees spent €37.5 million to sign five names, two of which are the outcast in the previous club, Delle Alli from Spurs and Danny Van de Beek of Manchester United. Their new boss Frank Lampard seems to be ready to inspire them to thrive again at the second half of the season. Everton is definitely more effective than The Magpies which wasted €102.10 million for snatching big moves yet with only two notable figures, English international Kieran Trippier and Lyon man Bruno Guimares. This winter EPL also welcomes (back) Christian Eriksen whose contract had been terminated due to his physical condition and Colombian international Luiz Diaz. They both are heading to Brentford and Liverpool.

In La Liga winter transfer window, Barcelona stunned their fans around the world after making important signings despite their huge debt. There are at least two of them have been considered as the ones still in the prime targets of European clubs this month, Adama Traore and Pierre Aubameyang. Unfortunately, Ousman Dembele still refuses to leave the club till the end of the season. The Frenchman might not be included in Blaugrana’s squad for their domestic and continental campaign this season. Moreover, the Spanish top flight has been the main target for Giovanni Lo Celso, Rafinha Alcantara, and Illaix Moriba to return home after their disappointing stints in Tottenham, PSG and RB Leipzig respectively. The Argentine joined Villareal, Thiago’s brother headed to Real Sociedad while the former Blaugrana youngsters signed for Valencia.
