Matchday 22 in La Liga saw Atletico Madrid's way in ending their negative trend while Real Madrid was held at their home turf.

Los Chochoneros finally secured an important win this weekend after their winless run in the last three games. Diego Simeone's men were able to come back from behind and eventually sealed three points to keep their fourth place. They were hosting Valencia but conceded twice already at the first half through Yunus Musah' and Hugo Duro's goal. Apparently, the substitution Simeone did after an hour mark made the crucial difference. Matheus Cunha tapped in the ball into the back of the net to give a shout. Then the decisive goals came right at the death from Angel Correa and the center back Mario Hermoso. It was a thrilling encounter for Luis Suarez and Co which is worth re-watching.

Meanwhile, the league leader Real Madrid was lucky enough to snatch one point. Los Merengues played host to Elche and should have scored earlier through Karim Benzema's penalty but the French man wasted it as it flew wide. His free kick also only hit the post before the visitors finally opened the scoring as Lucas Boye headed it home. Not long after, Parra Milla doubled Elche's lead as he stroke the ball into the far post. Carlo Ancelotti's men eventually found their way to score a lifeline. This time it was Luca Modric who executed the penalty and he did it. The home side at last were level through Eder Militao's header. Real Madrid is still leading with four points difference from Sevilla who only managed to salvage one point last weekend.
