22-year-old biathlete Kristina Dmitrenko joined the hundreds of Ukrainian athletes who stood up to defend their country from Russia. The champion of the Youth Olympic Games changed the sporting rifle for a real machine gun and has become an expert marksman for the army.
Some time ago, the reference of this sport in the country, Dmitry Pidruchny, was the first to announce that he was joining the ranks of the army. The 30-year-old sportsman serves in the National Guard of Ukraine in Ternopil.
A large part of athletes is trying to defend their homeland, although most of them can only be part of services that help civilians due to their lack of experience with weapons. Still, this shows the love that the people of Ukraine have for their country.
