Copa America 2021 showdown at the group stage is finalising soon. So far there are six teams which have secured the spots at the quarter finals. In the North zone, Brasil is leading and has sealed the top position with nine points so far, followed by Colombia collecting five-point clear from Samba. Reinaldo Rueda's side position in the standings is not safe yet. Meanwhile, in the South zone, all four teams have sealed the 4 places for the next stage, leaving Bolivia due to sitting at the rock bottom.
In the next two days, the remaining teams will be battling for their own objectives, which are quite different in each group. There are two remaining fixtures on the 27th of June to decide the campaign of Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. In Goaina, Brasil will be playing up against Ecuador, which needs a victory to advance, whereas Peru and Venezuela are squaring off in Estadio Mane Garrincha, Brasilia.
A draw result would not be enough if Peru could win over Venezuela. Ricardo Gareca's men can even topple Colombia too from the second place with such result or a draw. Moreover, a stalemate will also be able to lift Venezuela to the fourth place and eliminate Moises Caicedo and Co.
Meanwhile, the recent results in group A on the south have secured Uruguay and Paraguay to accompany Argentina and Chile to the next round. Oscar Tabarez's men crushed Bolivia 2-0 through Quinteros' own goal and Edison Cavani's whereas Paraguay managed to thump Chile 2-0 as well. Samudio opened the scoring and Miguel Almiron extended their lead.
The next fixtures on June, 28, would be more about finding a way to avoid finishing the fourth place for Paraguay and Uruguay so that they do not face off the host and reigning Champions, Brasil, too soon. Another game on schedule was Bolivia versus Argentina, which is more for formality while Chile is the only team which has already played four times.
Uruguay is expected to win the game, if they are to avoid Brasil at the quarterfinal. Such could even lift them up on the top of the table if they are able to clinch a big win with four or more goal difference. Nevertheless, A draw result should be sufficient for Edison Cavani and Co to climb to the third as they have better goal aggregate than Chile with only minus one.
