Copa America 2021 officially began its fixture last weekend with a match between the host Brasil and Venezuela whose 12 players had tested positive COVID-19. Selecao sealed an easy win over Jose Peseiro’s side 3-0 in Rio de Janeiro. Their winning goals were scored by Marquinhos, Neymar’s penalty and Gabi Barbosa’s tap into the back of the net. Tite’s men were dominating the game without much difficulty as Venezeuela could only deploy the remaining reserve players there. It was a better result compared to their last meeting in Copa America 2019 when Brasil could only muster a goalless draw at the group stage. Another result on the same day in North group was Colombia’s narrow win over Ecuador by a single goal of Edwin Cardona.

Meanwhile, in the zone south, Argentina and Chile were squaring off again and the result was once again the same. Both sides could only muster a 1-1 draw. Messi gave his team the lead through his forte, curling free kick on 33rd minute but Eduardo Vargas cancelled out their prospective victory after taking advantage of the Arturo Vidal’s deflected ball from the penalty which was initially saved by Emiliano Martinez on 57th minute. Lionel Scaloni’s side failed to capitalise several chances and their attacking build up had been easily anticipated due to their lack of creativity and variations in it. It is their third consecutive draw result for Albiceleste and La Roja. Another result in this group was Paraguay’s 3-1 win while meeting Bolivia.
