Two top teams in Premier League, Chelsea and Liverpool, which had a chance to topple Spurs this weekend, wasted the opportunity to snatch a win as both could only muster a draw. The Blues, which welcomed their former boss Jose Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge, were involved in a tight clash before finally ended the game in a goalless draw. Both sides had several chances but were mainly denied by the goal keepers. In the end, it was a fair result. Meanwhile, The Reds was even more unlucky and held in a 1-1 draw while travelling to Brighton. They had two goals disallowed before Diogo Jota bagged an opener and were punished by Brighton’s late penalty of Pascal Gros. Such result could only hold them on the second of the table with the same points as Spurs but have worse goal aggregate.

In Italian Serie A, the reigning Champions Juventus, was unable to secure maximum points while facing off Benevento, this season’s newly promoted team. Alvaro Morata opened the scoring but eventually was equalised by Gaetano Letizia. The Spanish international was so unfortunate here that he missed two shots on the second half and was sent off soon after the final whistle. Andrea Pirlo’s men have been unbeaten so far but they have too many draw results. The one point last weekend did not only prevent them from approaching the top but also failed to reduce the point margins from AC Milan on the top.
