The city of Manchester shall be proud this season as their two teams are now the favourite to progress to the finals of two European competitions, Champions League for Manchester City and Europa League for Manchester United. The fans of both sides are certainly hopeful that they both could win the title in the end.
Manchester City finally managed to seal a 2-1 win on the road while taking on PSG in the midweek in Champions League semifinal. Despite conceding first at their first half through Marquinhos’s header taking advantage of Angel Di Maria’s corner kick, The Citizens did not lose their confidence. They eventually overturned the score sheet and situation, from more pragmatic before the interval to more dominant on the second half. Their winning goals were scored by Kevin de Bruyne on the 64th and Riyad Mahrez’s on 71st minute. This is definitely a huge blow for Pocchetino’s men as their chance to advance now is slimmer although not exactly over yet. The Argentine boss experienced the same situation two years ago when he led Spurs made a superb comeback at the second leg of the semifinal against Ajax.

In Europa League, The Red Devils ran rampant while playing host to AS Roma in the semifinal on Friday. Ole Solksjaer’s men trashed Giallorossi 6-2, although they were 1-2 behind first. United took the lead through Bruno Fernandes’ strike. Yet, the Italian side equalised through Lorenzo Pellegrini’s penalty and then had their lead as Edin Dzeko tucked away the ball into the back of the net. The second half, however, brought a nightmare for Paulo Fonseca’s men as they conceded five goals. It started by Edison Cavani’s brace followed by Bruno Fernandes’s penalty. Four minutes later the Portuguese’s playmaker turned provider for Paul Pogba’s goal before Mason Greenwood sealed the big win.
