Through her Twitter account, swimmer Viktoria Zeynep shared an image that traveled around the world. Viktoria published a photo where she was stepping on the Russian flag, an action that annoyed the Russian Sports Federation.
Although Russia requested that the swimmer be sanctioned, to date the International Swimming Federation has not given any official response on the subject. Meanwhile, on social media, the public supports Viktoria and understands her motives.
She was born in Ukraine, but her family moved to Turkey, where she started her swimming career. In 2014, Viktoria and her family were forced to flee her city of Crimea because Russia was controlling that area. It is for this reason that she never hesitated to support the people of Ukraine.
